Scholar spotlight: Alena Enaryeva

Path to MU:
Alena Enaryeva is a member of the 2017 Fulbright Russian International Education Administration program. The program includes several components, including academic, networking and practicum, through which Enaryeva has spent time at universities and conferences in Indiana, Texas, Missouri, New York and Washington, D.C. Originally from Siberia, Russia, Enaryeva now works as a translator/interpreter and an international projects specialist for the International Office at Dostoevsky Omsk State University in Omsk, Russia. “Since secondary school, I have dreamed of being engaged in the sphere of foreign languages and international cooperation. So I decided to enter the university to become a translator,” Enaryeva said.

Current work:
Through her were as a specialist in the International Office at Omsk State University, Enaryeva is involved in a number of different opportunities, including the arrangement and realization of international projects, work with international visits and student exchanges, and working with Fulbright scholarship recipients. She is currently working on relatively uncommon projects for Siberia, including Spanish language and Mexican culture and Japanese culture programs.

Current goals:
A few of Enaryeva’s many goals include continuing to building and expand the cultural programs and international exchange opportunities at Omsk State University.

Biggest surprise about the U.S.:
Enaryeva was most surprised by just how similar Russia and the U.S. are to each other.
