New study abroad planning scholarship offers $2,000 awards

International Programs is pleased to announce the Council on International Initiatives Study Abroad Scholarship — five $2,000 awards will be awarded each year to MU freshmen or sophomores who are planning to study abroad. The scholarship is sponsored by the MU Council on International Initiatives, which advises the provost on priorities and actions related to international programs and relationships.

Scholarship details

These awards are planning scholarships that can be used on any MU faculty-led study abroad program (see a list of eligible programs). They will be awarded each January and must be used by the following year’s spring break. For example, January 2020 awards may be used for spring (May) 2020, summer 2020, winter break 2020/21 or spring break 2021 programs.

Eligibility and application

Full-time MU freshmen and sophomores (less than 60 credit hours at time of application) who are first-generation college students are eligible to apply. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need.

To apply for the 2020 awards, complete the online application by Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020. Recipients will be notified by Jan. 21.
