I’m coming home!

Filed in Blog, Country, Germany by on July 31, 2015

As of writing this, I’ve been back in the U.S. for exactly one week. My flight cost me a little more than $1,000, but I know other friends of mine got flights back for as cheap as $800. The difference is I had layover of 45 minutes in Copenhagen and an hour and a half in Chicago, whereas some of my friends had layovers for as long as 11 hours. So you will get what you pay for. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend getting shorter layovers like I did because it leaves you with a very, very tight schedule to keep. If I had been delayed at either stop for even a few minutes I could have missed a flight and then been stranded in a airport for a while, but on the plus side I had a very short amount of travel time compared to other people I know.

The jet lag coming back was much better than the jet lag going over, and I readjusted in about two days. Since I’ve been back I’ve been staying at my parents place, seeing people I haven’t seen in over a year, with plans to travel in August to visit a few friends out of state before I finally go back to Columbia to look for work. It feels good to be back home, but it also feels weird being in the U.S. again after being outside of the country for so long. I expect this feeling to last for a little while longer, but it’s not so bad all things considered. I’m sad my year in Germany is over, but I know I’ll never forget it. I’m so happy that I got to experience everything I did and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. With that I guess I’m at the end of my blog, thanks for reading everyone and to anyone thinking of going to Germany, all I can say is do it!
