Goodbye for now

Filed in Blog, Italy by on April 23, 2013

This is my last week in Perugia! Time has gone by faster than I thought was possible. My study abroad experience has been everything that I could have hoped for —┬ánew experiences, new friendships and new perspectives. And though this semester has had some mind-blowing, life changing sort of experiences, I think it’s the little things that have added up to mean the most. It’s going on late night gelato runs with friends I hadn’t even met four months ago and now it’s hard to think about being without. It’s reliving the hot baths in Budapest when your friend puts her pictures up a month later. It’s realizing you understand everything the cashier says to you at the grocery store. It’s the breathtaking views from Piazza Italia that never get old. It’s getting Facebook messages asking if you’re hungry and want to get dinner right this second, and you drop everything you’re doing to go. It’s jamming to your new favorite Italian song in someone’s kitchen.

So while the semester hasn’t been perfect, it’s the good people and the moments with them that have made it special. I’ve fallen in love with Perugia and Italia, especially with the warmer weather the past couple of weeks, and I love all the new friends, American and Italian, that I’ve made, people I wouldn’t have met otherwise. And even though I have to leave for now, I have a feeling I’ll be back. Ciao ciao and baci baci!

I will leave you with a lovely view, and a glass of homemade lemonade.
