Executive order information and resources

Filed in News and announcements by on February 10, 2017

This continues to be a very dynamic and rapidly evolving situation. If you are an international student or scholar with questions regarding the executive order and whether or not it directly affects you, please be sure to contact your International Center adviser for the most up-to-date information.

NAFSA, one of the leading professional organizations for international educators, also provides helpful resources and updates related to the executive order.

On Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, President Trump issued an executive order that restricts entry into the United States for 90 days for individuals from seven countries: Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

We continue to analyze the executive order and its impact on our students, faculty, scholars, employees and other community members. At this time, we recommend that MU community members from these seven countries who hold a visa to enter the United States or who are lawful permanent residents do not travel outside of the United States.

We understand that many in our campus community — including permanent residents, nonimmigrant students and visiting scholars and their families — have questions about this executive order. The International Center has scheduled an information session at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, in Wrench Auditorium, Memorial Union.

You are valued members of our campus community and we are here to support you. If you are unable to attend the information session or simply want to speak with someone privately, please do not hesitate to contact us either by email or by calling 573-882-6007.
