Done with classes… already?!

Filed in Blog, United Kingdom by on March 25, 2014

As this post’s title implies, I have, in fact, finished classes since last I blogged. I’m done so early because Lancaster University has three terms instead of the typical two, and each is only ten weeks. The last term, which begins after Easter Break, is reserved for exams and submission of final papers; it’s like one long finals week. So, while it feels strange to be done with class, there’s still plenty of work to be done (hence the lack of blog posts)! There are relatively few assignments here as compared to the U.S., in the name of emphasizing independent learning. This educational approach has its pros and cons, but it means all of the work comes at the end of term in the form of mammoth papers.┬áThus, the most accurate reflection of how I’ve spent my time over the past few weeks would be to post photos of the library, but in favor of more aesthetically appetizing fare here are a few recent photos from the countryside:

Sunset in a cemetery near town.

Be forewarned, horse thieves.

It was not a windy day, but these trees said otherwise.

Flowers underfoot and overhead.

An extraordinarily large puddle.

…not the most cohesive collection of photos, but better than the insides of my library books. Next week commences our four-week Easter Break, so in a few days I’m off to Germany, Austria, Italy, Croatia and Slovenia. I expect I will have more blog material than I know what to do with upon my return in a few week’s time, so stay tuned.
